The poet or writer listens on many levels. We listen for what is stirring inside: longing, restlessness, murmurings. We listen to what is coming at us from outside: an image, an event, a relationship. Then we find a way to express the experience so that it satisfies both the inner stirrings and the outer influences.
On this day we want to honor the inner and the outer. There will be poetry to listen to, prompts to inspire, and lots of writing time. We will “hear each other into speech” (Nelle Morton) and share good simple food. Feel free to bring something you are already working on.When: Saturday, August 29, 2015, 9:30-2:30.
